Progression, detection and remission: evolution of chronic myeloid leukemia using a three-stage probabilistic model

نویسندگان

چکیده

We present a three-stage probabilistic model for the progression of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), as manifested by leukemic stem cells, progenitor cells and mature cells. This is captured through process cell division mutation, with probabilities occurrence being assigned to both them. The key contributions this study include, determination expected number well total these (in terms probabilities, contingent on initial count), time reach threshold level injurious critical when disease changes its phases, probability extinction CML, dynamics CML evolution consequent primary therapy. Finally, results obtained are demonstrated numerical illustrations.

Unusual ophthalmic manifestation in chronic myeloid leukemia: A case report

Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative hematopoietic malignancy with a heterogeneous proliferation of hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow. The ocular manifestations are rare symptoms of CML. In this case report, a CML patient with retinal hemorrhage is reported as an uncommon symptom. Case presentation: A 35-year-old man was referred due to decreased right eye vi...

What is treatment free remission in chronic myeloid leukemia?

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has become a model for molecular targeted therapy [1]. It is characterized by a cytogenetic marker, the Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome and its molecular counterpart the BCRABL1 fusion gene. This leukemia-specific molecular marker encodes a protein tyrosine kinase, BCR-ABL1, which is considered as the driver of the leukemic process. This discovery led to the developm...

A novel mouse model identifies cooperating mutations and therapeutic targets critical for chronic myeloid leukemia progression

The introduction of highly selective ABL-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has revolutionized therapy for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). However, TKIs are only efficacious in the chronic phase of the disease and effective therapies for TKI-refractory CML, or after progression to blast crisis (BC), are lacking. Whereas the chronic phase of CML is dependent on BCR-ABL, additional mutations are r...

The role of microRNA in acute/chronic, myeloid/lymphocytic leukemia

MicroRNAs are small, non-coding sequences that regulate gene expression by inducing degradation or translational inhibition of target mRNAs. These molecules control many intracellular physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal expression of these moleculs has been described in different cancers including hematopoietic cancers. According to the type of cancer and the stage, miRNA’s expres...
